March-April 2014 Trip Leg 6

04/06/14 Sunday We arrived app. 1:30PM at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons NC which is about 12 miles from Winston-Salem. We have never been here before but decided to stop for the night since it is halfway home. It looked nice on the internet but it looks even better in person. The RV park has 44 full hookup sites, with 50, 30, 20amp electric, water, sewage, cable tv and free WiFi that actually works plus a dump station all for $31. All sites are large, 55 ' long with paved streets and paved sites. All will accommodate the largest RV, most are level but 4-6 and some in the 30ies are too sloped for a MH. We got site 10 which is the only pull through. The CG has full growth willow oaks for lots of shade in the summer. They even have the limbs trimmed up high so they will not touch the top of a motor home. We got a good satellite shot but in the summer with leaves on the trees it might not be as good. The park is over 1100 acres and with your CG pass you get a free car pass for the rest of the park which has a golf course, horse track, MX track, lots of paved hiking trails, a grill that serves meals, and two dog parks.

04/07/14 Monday We were planning to leave today for home but it rained most of the night and the rain was going to follow us all the way home so I called the office and extended our stay by one night. I was not looking forward to driving 225 miles in the rain. Late in the evening 11 deer came by grazing across the street from our site.

04/08/14 Tuesday We departed at 9:10AM and arrived safely home at 2PM after 25 nights on the road. It was a good trip, two good rallies, good food, friendly people and educational seminars.

March-April 2014 Trip Leg 4

03/26/14 Thursday We stopped  at the Pilot Travel Center at exit 63 on I85 on the way to Gaffney SC. This location does not have an RV lanes and only about 6 truck lanes and the layout was really weird, plus they had a mobile washing crew washing the canopy over the lanes blocking two lanes at a time right at lunch hour which is a usually busy time at a truck stop, causing a long backup.

We checked in at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney SC about 12:30PM for our 8 AM Friday morning service. We set up in site 5 and relaxed the remainder of the day.

03/28/14 Friday We had the MH ready at 8AM for our service appointment, checked in at the service office and then went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast followed by a shopping trip to Camping World to replace a defective water pressure regulator. They had our MH service completed by 3:30PM. They had done the M3, transmission and generator service and returned the MH to our site.

03/29/14 Saturday It rained most of the day as we read and relaxed, followed by a late afternoon walk after the rain stopped.

03/30/14 Sunday After breakfast we departed for Sevierville TN to attend a TRVN Rally with fellow Tiffin owners.

March-April 2014 Trip Leg 5

03/30/14 Sunday The cross winds along I26 coming into the Ashville NC made the driving uncomfortable but once we got past Ashville a few miles the winds calmed down and we began to see lots of snow along the roadside and up on the hills but thankfully now on the road. We arrived at River Plantation RV Resort and was setup in site 166 by 1:30PM. Lots of other Tiffin MH already onsite for the TRVN Rally. We went to Bid Daddy’s wood fire pizza restaurant for supper. Really good pizza.

03/31/14 Monday I washed the car and cleaned up the exterior of the MH. Remainder of the day was talking with other Tiffin owners and reading and riding our bicycles.

04/01/14 Tuesday The morning was spent relaxing and reading. About noon Brannon Hutcheon of Custom RV Inc. came to install a Trav’Ler Satellite Dish on the roof on the MH and remove the King-Dome. He also installed an awning over the window in the bathroom. Later we rode out to the famous Bush Brothers Beans visitor center but got there 8 minutes before they closed so we could not go through their museum display area.

04/02/14 Wednesday We drove over to Townsend TN to check out some campgrounds and then drove through the Great Smokey Mountains National Forest up to the entrance to Cades Cove. On the way back to the CG Lena wanted some Tennessee BBQ pork so we stopped at a place called Harvest Moon. They were cooking BBQ in a cooker beside the road and we could smell it as we drove by so we stopped and got some. It was delicious. We returned to the CG and registered for the TRVN Rally. Then went to the Rally Meet and Greet and Ice Cream Social.

04/03/14 Thursday I attended one of the seminars put on by one of the TRVN members. Then we attended the Rally Pot Luck Dinner. Lots of good food.

04/04/14 Friday We attended some more of the seminars including one on Rving to Alaska. From 1-4:30PM we opened our MH up as part of the Tour de Coaches to let anyone that wanted to come in and see our coach and all the mods that have been done to it. That was a lot of fun. Then we went to the Rally BBQ Dinner where we got some more good Tennessee BBQ.

04/05/14 Saturday We attended the Pancake and Sausage breakfast at the pavilion. I sounds like we eat all the time, I guess. But TRVN rallies always have good food. At 10AM we participated in the Rally Flea Market. Lena sold some of her scarfs and I sold some of my woodworking items.

04/06/14 Sunday This was a great rally and we met lots of friendly Rvers. We departed at 9AM and headed for Tanglewood Park in Clemmons NC.
