Canadian Maritimes July 14, 2019

Day 35 Sunday July 14, 2019 We departed the campground this morning at 8:15AM for our 284 mile drive to Oceanside RV Park in Port au Choix Newfoundland. We had good roads most of the way except for the last 10 miles or so were rather bad but we did see some nice scenery and drove up and down some really steep hills. The road is called the Viking Trail. We stopped about noon for fuel and then across the parking lot to Mary Brown's Cafe to get some fried chicken and tater wedges. Three other RVs from our group also fueled up and ate with us.

When we were at the Wetlands Center yesterday, Alice showed us and told us about a plant they have here that is rather pretty with a large white blossom but the sap from the plant will cause bad blisters that are hard to get rid of. The plant is called Hog Weed and today it was abundant along the road we traveled, sometimes we could see it growing in the edge of people's yards.

We arrived at the campground about 3:30PM and setup in site 12. We are all parked in a row facing the Gulf of Saint Lawrence River and were sitting right on the Igornachoix, Newfoundland shore which is a solid mass of rock right down into the water. The group gathered up around a campfire across from the RVs after everyone got settled in. We were hoping for a great sunset over the water but it was too cloudy tonight. This would have been the perfect location but it was not to be.
