Day
6 Monday August 6, 2018 We did a morning walk around the resort had
breakfast and relaxed until it was time to go to see the Blue Grass
Group Carson Peterson and Iron Mountain perform at the Rex Theater in
Galax. Carson is a very talented 13 year old young musician. He began
playing the fiddle at age 3 and was entering fiddle competitions at
age 4. He is the front man for the group of very talented musicians.
They put on a very good show.
Day 7 Tuesday August 7, 2018 After breakfast we drove over to the home
town of Andy Griffin, Mt. Airy NC. We checked out some of the shops
and had a Pork Chop Sandwich at the Snappy Lunch cafe. This cafe has
been in business since 1923 and is the only local business that was
ever mentioned in the popular TV show Andy Griffin. We went in a
little early for lunch but by the time we finished they was a line
outside with probably 20 people in it waiting for a table. Then we
stopped at Angel's and got some moonshine flavored ice cream. They
have a few flavors they flavor with their own moonshine.

On
the way back to the resort we drove up to Raven Knob Boy Scout Camp
where our oldest grandson went to a week long scout camp a few weeks
ago. Late in the day a thunderstorm rolled through with winds and a
lot of rain but it didn't last long but it did cool the temperature
down quite a bit.
Day
8 Wednesday August 8, 2018 We were basically lazy today as we didn't
do much of anything except relax, read and putter around the resort.
Day
9 Thursday August 9, 2018 The temperature was a little cooler today,
which was really nice. Lena did some laundry and then mid afternoon
we went to the Briar Patch Coffee Shop in Galax one more time before
we depart tomorrow. Then we went to Lowe's and Walmart before
returning to the resort and did a few things to prepare for our
departure tomorrow.
